General affiliate disclosure
Some of the buy buttons and “Get quotes” forms on this site are affiliate or referral links. If you click one and make a purchase, or you request quotes on an item with a partner installer program, we may earn a commission or referral fee at no extra cost to you.
How buy buttons work
Every buy button on this site routes through our own /go link before it sends you to a store. That link records which item and program you clicked — never your address — and a “Paid links” notice sits above every list of buy buttons.
Lead forms
Requesting quotes for a big-ticket item, like a generator or flood barriers, sends your request to us and may result in a referral fee if you go on to hire an installer we connect you with. Installers set their own prices, and a referral fee doesn’t change what we show you.
No prices shown
We don’t show Amazon prices on this site. Cost bands (like “$25–100”) are our own rough estimate, not a live price, and aren’t guaranteed to be accurate — check the actual price at the store.
It doesn’t affect the list
The checklist is built first; shopping links are added to it second. An item’s place in your checklist never changes because of how much it pays us, and we include every ready.gov-recommended item whether or not it has a paid link.
